'They were same terrorists, who escaped from Sopore encounter’
Srinagar, June 13: Two Lasker-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists were killed and a policeman was injured in a brief gunfight with special team of Srinagar Police in Bemina area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar said two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed by Srinagar Police in swift encounter in Bemina area of Srinagar.
"One policeman has also received minor injury," he said.
The killed terrorists have been identified as Abdullah Goujri, resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Adil Hussain Mir @ Sufian @ Musab of Anantnag district.
In a series of tweets, the IGP wrote, “As per the documents and other incriminating materials, one of the killed terrorist has been identified as Abdullah Goujri, resident of Faisalabad, #Pakistan. A big success.”
In second tweet, the top cop wrote tweeted, “As per documents recovered from another killed #terrorist, he has been identified as Adil Hussain Mir @ Sufian @ Musab of #Anantnag district. As per police records, he crossed over to #Pakistan in 2018 on visit VISA from Wagah.”
IGP Kumar informed, “It was the same group of terrorists, who escaped from Sopore encounter. We have been tracking their movement.”
The entire operation was conducted exclusively by Jammu and Kashmir Police, said the officials.
Giving details, about the operation, a police officer said acting on specific information generated by police regarding the presence of terrorists in Bemina area, a special team of Srinagar police launched cordon and search operation in the mentioned area.
He said during the search operation, as Police team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter.
As per police records, both the killed terrorists were part of groups involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/SF and civilian atrocities.
Police recovered incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition from the site of the encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation, he said.
Meanwhile, in this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and an investigation has been initiated.
