Srinagar, June 20: Rains continue to lash Kashmir valley for the fifth straight day on Monday, while the Meteorological Department has predicted significant improvement in prevailing weather conditions from Wednesday onwards.
Deputy Director MeT, Srinagar Centre, Mukhtar Ahmad told that erratic weather conditions will continue upto Tuesday and after that weather will improve.
On Monday, light rains continued in plains, while a light snow was recorded in higher reaches of Gulmarg, Gurez, and till late evening.
Summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday night and a maximum of 18.2 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Gulmarg was the coldest place in Kashmir as night temperature dipped to single digits of 4.4 degrees Celsius and Pahalgam settled at 7.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday night.
As per the advisory of Jammu and Kashmir for Tuesday states subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs(Passenger)/private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
On the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri highway, subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on the road shall be allowed from both sides viz Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.
